Community Schools

A community school is a "whole child", community drive approach to provide well-rounded education opportunities and student/family support.  Using the community schools framework, districts and schools work closely with teachers, students, families and community partners, providing an integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development, and community engagement.  Community schools play a vital role in the holistic development of students.  Our department offers support to districts in implementing community school models that foster partnerships between schools, families, and the broader community.  We provide guidance in developing and sustaining community partnerships, coordinating resources, and leveraging community assets to enhance student achievement and well-being.
