SCOE State Preschool is dedicated to providing a safe, caring environment where children enjoy learning.  The program focuses on early literacy and kindergarten readiness skills in a positive, play oriented environment.  Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday - Friday for 175 days between August and June.  A healthy snack and lunch are provided. SCOE State Preschool provides services to three (3) to five (5) year old children from qualifying families.  The program is licensed by the State Department of Social Services to serve a maximum of 48 children in three classrooms.

The preschool maintains a ratio of at least one adult to every eight children.  A teacher with a Child Development Teacher Permit is present with the children throughout the daily session.  Associate teachers and aides assist with supervising the children and conducting activities.  College of the Siskiyous students, high school students and AmeriCorps volunteers, participate as part of work experience programs.  Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the classrooms as their schedules allow.
