Siskiyou County Board of Education


Members of the Siskiyou County Board of Education serve four-year terms and are elected from different geographical areas of the county. Responsibilities of the Siskiyou County Board of Education include: 
 
  • Approve policies, regulations and curriculum for the schools and educational programs operated by the County Office.
  • Adopt policies and regulations governing the County Office.
  • Approve the annual budget of the County Office.
  • Set the County Superintendent's salary.
  • Receive the annual audit.
  • Maintain an awareness of financial conditions and operations of school districts in the county.
  • Approve the purchase or lease of property for County Office programs.
  • Serve as an appeal board for expulsions, and interdistrict attendance transfers.

The Siskiyou County Board of Education also serves as the Siskiyou County Committee on School District Organization. The County Committee is charged with the duty of studying the school district organization of its county and shall, under the direction of the State Board of Education or pursuant to a petition by local electors, hold hearings and formulate plans and recommendations for the unification or other reorganization of the districts in the county.
